| Psalm 56: 3-4 Whenever I am afraid I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word) In God I have put my trust; I will not fear, What can flesh do to me? Psalm 57:1 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You, And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by. David, a man after God's own heart, was afraid, but in his distress he turned to God. David wrote Psalm 56 when he was captured by his enemies the Philistines, and Psalm 57 when he fled from Saul into the cave. He escaped to the cave of Adullam, and everyone who was in distress, in debt and discontented which means bitter of soul, gathered to him and he became the captain of 400 men. (See 1 Samuel 22:1-2) David's influence on those men caused them to become mighty man of valor. His style of leadership was not like King Saul's, who lorded over the people, yet actually feared them. There is much to be said about the leadership Jesus portrayed. Jesus is a lover, but also the Lion of the tribe of Judah and the King of kings and the Lord of lords! He brings exhortation, comfort, direction and rebuke, as well as correction. Many did not understand the way David dealt with situations. He was a lover of God but also a mighty warrior. Neither did many of the people, in the time when Jesus walked the earth, understand His ways and leading. Sometimes judging the leadership style of others can become a snare to us. Jesus told us to come to Him and learn of Him....keeping our eyes upon Jesus. Many are in fear, distress, in debt and bitterness right now; in the Body of Christ as well as in the world. Times have become difficult for many. Because of the lawlessness, the love of many will be growing cold, as a sign of the times we are in. (see Matth. 24:12) But the Lord is pouring out His love and there will be a love revolution. He is awakening us to His love. His perfect love is casting out and even driving out all fear and David experienced this kind of deliverance and trust. As we walk in His love and manifest the kingdom of God as Jesus did; miracles, signs and wonders will be released. As Jesus said: they will know you are My disciples, because of the love you have one for another. As lovers of God we will learn how to love God with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength and love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Jesus does. Being saturated and overflowing with the love of God; the unfailing, unconditional love; will cause us to flood others with the same love and comfort we have received from our Heavenly Father. The Holy Spirit is our comforter and the one who comes alongside of us. I can't allow to be offended and become bitter in my soul, because of the signs of the time, to the point where I close off my heart and ultimately my love is growing cold. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear...what can man do to me? It is vital to trust in the Lord not people or circumstances (see Psalm 118). David's soul trusted in God and he took refuge in the shadow of the Lord's wings. He remained there until the calamities passed by. The Son of righteousness is arising with healing in His wings.... (see Malachi 4) Do you need healing for your wounds in your soul? Run to the Lord and not from Him in these times. Jesus has all the answers you need and when you enter into the Throne room of grace, seeking His face, He will show you things to come and He will give you answers to your questions.
